| Littleton is a city of
approximately 42,000. One of Littletons highlight is the beautifully restored
turn-of-the century downtown buildings. There is abundant recreational opportunities,
including; the 625-acre South Platte Park, South Platte River, Highline Canal, Columbine,
Lee Gulch, Arapahoe Greenway and Carson Nature Center providing everyone who likes to
boat, bike, hike, swim, skate, golf, horseback ride, play baseball, softball and soccer
with an abundance of choices. The new light-rail system which opened in the summer of
2000, serves the Littleton area and runs north to downtown Denver, an approximate 20
minute ride. There
are 26 neighborhood parks, three golf courses, a two-rink enclosed ice arena, two indoor
and outdoor swimming pools and a multi-purpose recreation center. In addition, there
are over thirty miles of bike trails through residential areas plus almost twenty miles of
biking or walking trails along the High Line canal Trail.
Major employers in Littleton
are well known, Norgren, Ecostar, Lockheed Martin and U.S. West Communications
Corporation.
