| Wheat Ridge is a mature city located in Jefferson
County in the northwest area of metropolitan Denver. The city is about 10 square miles of
beautiful rolling land with incredible views of the front range. It is a mature community
with a strong sense of history. Until World War II this community supplies much of
Denvers fresh produce. Clear Creek runs through the
city providing an ideal area for a parks and greenbelt system of trails. Wheat Ridge has
acquired large tracts along the creek that area preserved as greenbelts. There are
approximately 390 acres of land used for parks and open space in the city.
The population of Wheat Ridge is 32,913, with a median age of 40
yearsa higher median age than most other metropolitan Denver communities. The median
household income for this city is $38,983. 32% of its residents are employed in
management, professional or related fields, 30% are in sales and office, and 15% are in
service occupations.
The Wheat Ridge Recreation Center is a 69,180 square foot
full-service recreation center with a competitive lap pool, leisure-therapy pool, gym for
basketball and volleyball, game room, spa, sauna, racquetball courts, climbing wall,
weight/fitness equipment and a walking track. There is also a multi-purpose room and
kitchen and child care.
